Darth Vader’s Guide to Inbound Marketing
Boy, that Darth Vader fella sure was a heck of a marketing genius. Wait… what?????
Okay, so maybe “marketing genius” is a bit indulgent, but you can’t deny that the crazed-Jedi-turned-crazed-half-machine-Jedi certainly had a way with words. Could it be that by tapping into the Force, Vader automatically achieved the power of marketing without even realizing it? Perhaps we’re just crazy ourselves. But, don’t take our word for it. Listen to the words of the Sith Lord himself and learn what true marketing is really all about:
“The Force is Strong with This One.”
Bet you thought we were going to start off with “Use the Force, Luke.” We thought about it, but the truth is, this quote toward the end of the original Stars Wars fits so much better. The idea here is that every successful business has strong marketing muscle behind it. You may not be able to pour millions into your campaigns, but when you work with marketing professionals that really know their stuff, your business will be poised to make an impact.
“We Would Be Honored… If You Would Join Us.”
Marketing for any company consists of numerous platforms being utilized at any given time in order to give your company a higher reach to obtain a following. We’re pretty sure ol’ Darth wasn’t thinking about social media when he said this line after entrapping Han and Leia, but he might as well have. When you start putting down roots in social media, it is a good idea to bring however many platforms into the fold that you think will successfully get your name out there.
“Don’t Be Too Proud of This Technological Terror You’ve Constructed.”
A better version of this line in terms of marketing would be Han Solo’s famous “Don’t get cocky,” but this isn’t about him, is it? The point we’d like to make here is that no business — and, therefore, no marketing strategy — can coast on its laurels. Just because the last two or three months have seen increased conversions and engagement, which have translated into real sales, don’t let your pride think that you don’t need to ensure the utmost quality and follow-through.
“I Find Your Lack of Faith Disturbing.”
This is something that goes far past the basic idea of marketing. No matter how hard the road to success can be, it’s important that you have faith in what you’re trying to achieve. There’s a lot of competition out there and you must realize that not every single marketing tactic is going to work perfectly the first time, or even at all. So, what you need is to have faith in your business that will weather any storm, because you’ll eventually find a marketing plan that works for you.
“Be Careful Not to Choke on Your Aspirations.”
In the newest Star Wars film (Rogue One, in case you’ve been living on Tatooine for the past year or two), Darth Vader — spoiler alert! — made a brief, kick-ass cameo the left audiences wanting more. He didn’t say too much, but we found this particular quote to be of interest. While it is important that you take advantage of the social media and marketing platforms that are available to you, it’s important not to spread yourself too thin. Aspirations of success and business growth are great, but your marketing strategy should remain focused at all times. Remember: slow and steady wins the race.
