Engaging and Interacting on Facebook

“I just wanna be loved. Is that so wrooooong?!”

When it comes to Facebook, we all want to be loved (or ‘liked’… or even ‘laughing emojied’!). Nothing feels better than checking up on your latest post and finding that your fans and friends have responded. Engagement and interaction, after all, is the heart and soul of social media! So, how do you get people to pay attention to your posts? The following nine tips will help you boost engagement on your Facebook page right away.

Tip #1 – Ask for Pics

Let’s face it – we live in a world where selfies reign supreme and people just looove showing off their lives all over social media. Why not use this to your advantage? If there’s one thing that your customers want to see on your social media page, it’s themselves! Ask your followers to snap a pic of themselves using one of your products. You can add a little extra incentive by entering anyone who participates in a contest. Not only will the selfie-takers be tickled, but their friends and followers will also start to interact with the photos.

Tip #2: Host a Caption Contest

Have you snapped a pretty hilarious pic of one of your employees recently? Got a unique photo of someone with one of your products? Post the image and ask your follower to chime in with their funniest, wittiest, and best “captions” that will turn your picture into an awesome meme. Then, encourage engagement by having your audience vote on the best caption.

Tip #3: Spread the Love

If you want to be liked and loved, you have to be willing to like and love others, too! Taking the time to build relationships with other businesses, industry experts, thought leaders, and influencers by liking and commenting on their pages and posts will encourage them to follow suit, thereby boosting social media interactions.

Tip #4: Let Your Audience Be the Experts

Ask your audience to create “how-to” tutorials that demonstrate their best hacks and favorite ways to go about using your products.

Tip #5: Ask Questions

Coming up with thought-provoking questions is a great way to get your target audience thinking and actively participating on social media.

Tip #6: Poll Your Audience

Wanna know what makes your target audience tick AND get them to participate on your social media page? Conduct a poll to find out what they think about current events, hot topics, your products, etc.

Tip #7: Test Your Fans

Have a “pop quiz” to test your fans’ knowledge of your brand, your products, your services, or your industry. Doing this regularly with weekly winners and monthly “championships” will get your audience talking.

Tip #8: Fill in the _____

Get your readers commenting by writing a prompt in your status like “My favorite place to use X Product is ____” or “My favorite vacation spot is _____.” Not only does this increase comments, but it also helps you to get to know your audience better. On top of everything else, this can help build feelings of community amongst your customers.

Tip #9: Ask For Suggestions

When all else fails, ask your followers what they want to read when they check out your social media account! Your fans will appreciate that you take their thoughts and opinions into consideration, and you’ll enjoy a much higher response and engagement rate going forward.
